Leadership

After graduating from the University of Notre Dame in 1992, Dr. Scott spent five years working for the House of Representatives prior to attending UNC School of Medicine in 2000. He served on the Board of Directors for the Society of Academic Emergency Medicine (SAEM) and was the first Disaster Medicine fellow to serve in the Department of Homeland Security's Office of the Chief Medical Officer.

He now serves as an Assistant Professor of Emergency and Pediatric Emergency Medicine and the Medical University of South Carolina. He has also formalized a community coalition of emergency preparedness trainers under the Center for Health Professional Training for Emergency Response (CHPTER). With a goal to improve health professional preparedness and readiness around the state, CHPTER is attracting a long list of regional experts including the Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC), the South Carolina Hospital Association (SCHA), the South Carolina Medical Association (SCMA) and six Charleston hospitals.
